Lost my old friend today

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

sorry to hear,...

btw, my cat, "Bandit" was brutally beaten by two very large raccoons last night! he was trying to protect his food bowl.:crying:

How is he?

My forcefully adopted stray cat Lexington was in a tiff the other night. He's got a scratch on his ear and another atop his head. I dont know if it was from another cat, a raccoon, or a opossum.

This is so beautiful! Where did you find it?

One of my cats had 2 encounters with a skunk. The first time wasn't too bad... Im guessing he won that battle. Just a bath needed.

The second time he wasn't so lucky. The skunk managed to spray him right in the eyes. But, again he needed a bath, and this time we also poured some water over his face to wash the eyes a bit. Usually he hates a bath, but that second time he didn't make a sound or even try to get out. I was worried about infection or rabies, but he turned out to be ok.

rupture & John... Condolences. The ol' guy in my avatar, Blue, was laid to rest this past June. 15 years, and it still seemed too soon. Took some time, but it does get easier to recall the good times without as much grief. As much as it hurt to let go, I wouldn't trade our time together.

We waited a few months, then adopted a lil' gal we named Pepper. For a bit, I felt somewhat disloyal to Blue whenever I'd notice how awesome Pepper is, until I realized that her awesomeness in no way diminishes his. Every pet has their own personality, and it's a treat to discover them. Take some time to mourn, but if you're of a mind to, jump back in... There's another great friend out there just waiting for you!

This made me cry a little. Growing up my grandparents had two cats named Hershey and Reese. Hershey would lay in the bed with me, sometimes awake all night, while I slept. We lost her about 5 years ago.

I have a 6 year old walker/coon hound/ shepherd mix and as her muzzle turns gray I'm reminded to cherish all the time I have with her
