Double Bass Loud Band - feed back control?

I started playing in a rock band (hip hop meets Pink Floyd) and my bass can't handle the volume levels (on edge of feedback).

I use a Fishman preamp and a Revolution Solo pickup.

Is there a different pickup or technique in using an upright bass at high volume levels with no feedback?

Try putting foam (or in my case a sock) between the tailpiece and the body of the bass. I heard an interview with Pat Metheny's Bassist about Double Bass feedback issues and he suggested it. It worked.

I tried all sorts of things and ended up with a parametric EQ. I slowly went through all the frequencies till I got the natural frequencies of the body sorted out and wound out slightly. I also used an AB box on stage as a switch to turn the bass off between sets or if something went real bad and I had to stop it fast.

Have to say though, the foam inserts and the sock under the tailpiece sound much better and simpler.

I play in a pretty high volume rockabilly band. And a couple of the venues we play at the stage is so small that my bass is about 3feet from my 1x15 and 4x10 with a 500watt amp turned up half way.
I use the K+K RAB, Fishman Platnuim, MarkBass LMII, and a friend of mine at grapics solutions in Franklin MA made me these restickable stick on F-Hole Covers.

You can see what I mean here. (This was my first gig with an upright bass and playing with this band so be kind)
