LOUD power amp

sorry if i came off sounding like i dont kind of know what im talking about, but i have ran my bass amp (SWR Workingmans 4004 which runs 400 watts at 4 ohms) through our pair of 8 ohm pa cabs and its sounds much louder than the power amp. If we could afford more speakers believe me we would buy more but since were going to replace everything eventually we agreed that an power amp would be the best place for us to start right now. sorry for any confusion if that wasnt confusing enough :hmm:

Believe me it is still confusing. What exactly are you trying to do?

Ours is around 800 watts bridged at 4 ohms and it sounds like its about 100 watts. Were looking at getting one anywhere from 800-1000+ watts bridged at four ohms. Any suggestions?

Here's a guess that might save you some money.

You don't need a new amp.

You need the right cable.

Help me help you. What kind of amp are you using? What kind of cable are you using?

Might be a good idea to list all your PA equipment. As mentioned above, best make sure your speaker cable is configured for bridged mono application (Speakon +1 / +2 or banana plugs).

looking for a loud poweramp, crown xti's are rather good, and rather cheap. but if your speakers can't handle that much power, which by the sound of what you've said when your swr overpowers it, is probably the case, then you should upgrade speakers...
