Loudest/Most Impressive Little Cab?

I went and jammed with a new band last night. Brought my PF-500 and my Alphalite loaded fEARful 12/6/1. The other guys suggested I use their former bass players rig that was sitting in the corner. They were pleasently surprized at the volume my little practice rig was spitting out. :D


Another piece of gear that can turn a small rig into a slightly bigger animal is the fDeck HPF-3. Cuts out frequencies that you dont want/need and preserves amp head room, and speaker excursion.

+1 Amazing stuff out there now. I'm digging my new Berg CN212 also. Not super small, but 46 pounds, and it WUMPS... lots of low mid meat and present midrange.

I think that I have tried most "small cabs" especially in the 1-12 version and I am convinced that I have found the holy grail. DNA DNS112N cabs are THE most unbelievable enclosures that I have ever used. I use then in pairs with a Genz Benz Streamliner 900 and do outdoor events with NO PROBLEMS! Last one I played was at the beach (on the beach) so I was also competing with the brisk wind. The sound tech that was running the stage could not understand how I was getting the sound he was hearing. At the end of the show he told me that it was by far the best stage rig he had ever experienced.
David has a gift, always has, but this time he has outdone himself. If you have one of these cabs and are not happy with it, e-mail me and I will buy it!

A fearless F112 with a Puma900..... that would be a slamming small rig that could cover a lot of ground. The F110 looks great also!

Thanks, Ken. I opted for the F210 instead of an F112 for my larger cab, I should have it in a week or two.

I knew that the EQ settings would get noticed :smug: It was set that way for a song I was working on at home, I wouldn't set it that way live. There are times (at home) when I'll have low bass set at 9 o'clock and everything else set CCW. It all depends on what I'm trying to hear when I'm trying to figure stuff out.

The bass is a Unicorn Ozellman Pro, one of a kind config. The Unicorn XS2104 is 2x10 + 4x4. Actually I prefer the Blue Soul with my Aggie cabs. With the Unicorn cab it is to much of a good thing. Crystal clear with superb lows and highs and almost too clean. The Puma 500 and XS2104 is also a great combo.

Very nice. I know exactly what you mean with the Blue Soul and 'too much of a good thing' with some very even, wide, open voiced cabs. I too prefer my Blue Soul with a cab that has a more controlled low end and a good dose of midrange response (for me, the Bergantino CN212 is my cab of choice for that wonderful head. I too find the Puma a bit more 'forgiving' with those sort of 'hi fi' type cabs. +1

Nice stuff you have there!

Rev Sound RS110. Under 20lbs but can take high wattage and keep up with a moderate volume band in a small bar. Reminds me a lot of a Bag End S-15. Lots of mid range but responds better to turning up the bass knob. I have compared it favorably as well to a Bergantino 112, I forget which one. I haven't had a chance to run a pair of them yet, but I can imagine it being quite the rig.

Here's a crappy cell phone picture from a blues jam. The host bass player has a Berg 112 and his initial reaction was that the cab was too middy, but after hearing a bunch of people play through it - including someone using his bass - and he came away impressed with how loud it was.

I'll also 'weigh in' in the lower price-ranged examples w/a Acoustic B20 (20 watts/1-10") I bought last year. Compact w/good tone and decent volume - mostly for home use but I've used it in a live trio setting. It was barely turned up, projected well and sounded great.
