Love at First Sight

Bard, are you quoting a comedian?

Dude. I wish. No. I had a 'grand' total of fourteen women in my entire life that I could refer as a serious girlfriend without bursting into laughter. By that I mean, one or two dates doesn't count. But 'introduced to her family and knowing all her friends on sight' does.

Of those fourteen...two are sane. One of those two is my wife. And the sanity thing was a major positive point in her favor when we got together.

Twelve out of fourteen has to be horrible odds. I was depressed by this A LOT, because it is a short step from 'Apparently mostly crazy women are attracted to me.' to 'A woman apparently has to be crazy to be attracted to me.' That's pretty hard on the self-image.

Myself, I'd have been thinking "Well, I hypothesize that 6 in 7 women are crazy." :D

You have my sympathy.

At 23, I've had "serious" interaction with probably about 5 women.

All of them were nuttier than fruitcakes.

And I'm a depressive, too. I think that has a lot to do with it. We recognize one of our own. It's a "she's hurting, that's darling" kind of attitude for me, which I know is totally self-destructive.

But, I feel like it's important for someone, regardless of their mental instability, to find someone else they can relate to.

Bard and Gard spill the beans... :p

I love 'Dear TaBby' threads.

Mikey, it does happen. Soon as I spotted my babe,
I knew she was the one for me. That was 28 years
ago. Just did my 25th anniversary. It takes a
LOT of work to maintain a relationship that long.

Good luck with the next meeting. Try to avoid the
'deer in the headlights' look, that one is a giveaway. :o

I think the secret to avoiding that look is to be chock full o' liquid confidence before I even see her. Last time we met I was already buzzed and still drinking. I think this time I'll have a FEW before I get there. So I'll be more clear-headed, but still be the talkitive, out-going guy she met last week (and no, I won't be driving).
I think tomorrow I'll be giving her the mid-week "just called to say hi" phone call. Ya know, just to make sure I'm not blowing this out of proportion and she does in fact remember me.

UH OH. Beer glasses. You may be surprised to find that when you are sober, she weighs 324, has three long chin hairs, and smells like limburger cheese.

You may want to rethink that statement...

EXCEPT MERCURY:smug:

And Cheezwiz....I wasn't THAT drunk when I first met her. Plus, I had 3rd party perspective to confirm it. My less drunk friends assured me that she is indeed pretty. At one point, a friend even said "GET HER FU**IN NUMBER OR I'LL KILL YOU NIGGA!!!". This made me laugh cause he's a 5-foot tall white kid. So anyway, I'm pretty much 100% sure that I won't be suprised by any unwanted pounds, odors, or hair.

OK, now I'm getting a little worried. I called her last night and her phone was off (no ringing, just voicemail). I called her twice today and both times she just didn't answer. It rang like 6 times and went to voicemail, I left a message but still no call-back. What should I do? If I don't talk to her tonight or early tomorrow, I won't be able to go to her show cause I don't know exactly where it is. This sucks.

I think you've already gotten an answer...sorry.

I'd let it be, if you've left more than one message, you will only cause damage doing more. If she's interested, she'll call you back after ONE message. If you call and leave a dozen messages, you're a stalker.

I only left one so far, I don't think I'm leaving another one. I'll call again later tonight and tomorrow if I still haven't talked to her. This is pissing me off though.

Welcome to the world of women dude....lots of them will give you their number one night, then wish they hadn't the next day for some reason you or I, as males, will never be able to fathom in a million lifetimes.

:hmm:

However, sometimes we get a number from a woman, and never call them, leaving them wondering what was wrong with them...

Life is too complicated, I love my cat, he just wants me to pick him up, scratch him, make sure his food and water dishes are full, and keep his litterbox clean. That's all, and he gives me unquestioning love.

When I find a woman capable of that, I'm marrying her.

Ahhh, the unconditional love of a cat. I wish women were as easy to please as my little pussy (pun intended ;))
I don't get it though, and I suppose none of us ever will. Why bother giving out the number if you don't intend on acting on it? She easily could've said "I'm not interested, leave me alone". I would've left her alone and we'd both be happier. But why keep me wondering for a week only to blow me off at the last minute? Women are cruel creatures.

Don't blow it. This is typically where dudes screw up. She's probably thinking, "Wow, what a nice guy". You're thinking "I might be in love. Maybe we should get married". :D

If you come on too strong the next time you see her, game over. Yes, I speak from experience. :(

BINGO!!!
