Very underappreciated bassist. His tone with the Peavey T-40 bass was just awesome-prime example is the "Captured" live album(one of my fave live records).

Love for Ross Valory (Journey) underrated

Ross is a very under rated bass player. I've always enjoyed his work. He makes it look so effortless.
Funny - I never think of bass when I hear Journey. Which probably proves that
a) Valory is underrated
b) they got popular and were thrown into the 'corporate rock' category
I think that's fine though. Let him be 'hidden'. I think that adds to his mystique in a way.

Considering the guy was surrounded by pop/rock/jazz greatness, and that he held his own, did his job, and created clever, interesting, appropriate bass lines, you almost have to appreciate him as a bass player.
I love it when my classic rock band does Journey. Love playing those lines and singing a harmony part.
