I played a black 5-string version of this. It sounded awesome.
I'm sort of indifferent to the looks. I do appreciate art deco, but I tend to be more comfortable with conservative cosmetics. Either way, if I had a collection I wouldn't mind adding a Doozie to it.
Remove the oval pickguard around the pickup and then I vote: thumbs up!

I played one in a shop(but I think it was a different model, I can't remember the PUP configuration) and it felt cheap and unergonomic to me, so I didn't plug it in.
