It wasn't till I got older and started really listening to the lyrics of the pop tunes that I grew up on that I realized so many songs were about guys cheating on their wives. Or guys that were either stalkers, or just completely deranged. I really liked a lot of these songs too...

The creeps:

Are they still writing stuff like this? I don't listen to lyrics ever any more.

The guys who really needed to be institutionalized:

Just felt like sharing as I've been listening to a lot of 70s lately. Still my favorite era of music, hands down.

Well, at least I agree with Barry Manilow this time. He can't sing.

Here's another awesome one:

Apples Peaches Pumpkin Pie:

Ready or not here I come
Gee that used to be such fun

Apples peaches pumpkin pie
Who's not ready? Holler "I"
That's a game we used to play.
Hide and seek was its name.
Oh ready or not, hear I come,
Gee that used to be such fun.
I always used to find a hiding place,
Times have changed.
Well I'm one step behind you, but still I can't find you.
Apple peaches pumpkin pie,
You were young and so was I.
Now that we've grown up it seems
You just keep ignoring me.
I'll find you anywhere you go,
I'll follow you high and low.
You can't escape this love of mine anytime.
Well, I'll sneak up behind you,
Be careful where I find you.
Apple peaches pumpkin pie,
Soon your love will be all mine.
Then I'm gonna take you home,
Marry you so you won't roam.
Marry you…
I'll find you anywhere you go,
I'll follow you high and low.
You can't escape this love of mine anytime.
Well, I'll sneak up behind you,
Be careful where I find you.
Ready or not here I come,
Gee that used to be such fun
I'll find you anywhere you go,
I'll follow you high and low.
You can't escape this love of mine anytime.

Good idea!

Chevy Van by Sammy Johns has a certain creepy element to it, as does Into the Night by Benny Mardones... "She's just 16 years old, leave her alone they say..."

She's only 17 by Winger.

As far as current music, rap is for sure chock full of misogynistic and general anti-social ideas and more and more female "artists" are joining in with the lowest common denominator ideas. Don't be fooled, though, women have done their fair share of cheatin and general debauchery songs throughout history!

This list Can NOT be complete without sighting some damn thing by Rod Stewart...:banghead:

Be sure to go back and check out "The Killing of Georgie," written entirely by Rod, a true story about a gay friend's murder. Edit: I just read the lyrics and back story...even more brilliant than I remembered, not to mention the tune itself.

Most artists end up producing some crap (Rod has produced surprisingly little- don't forget that he has a huge sense of humor) in an effort to stay relevant over time (Stones, AEROSMITH!!!!) but we can't deny the greatness of those with catalogs full of otherwise "important" stuff. "Important" in quotes because, after all, it's only rock and roll...

Here's a song I have always loved but never realized what it was about until I learned it, and as such spent a lot of time listening to it with headphones on. It doesn't quite fit the OP, it's more about a controlling partner, rather than sung from the creeps perspective.

Elton John, Someone Saved My Life Tonight

When I think of those east end lights, muggy nights
The curtains drawn in the little room downstairs
Prima donna lord you really should have been there
Sitting like a princess perched in her electric chair
And it's one more beer
And I don't hear you anymore
We've all gone crazy lately
My friends out there rolling round the basement floor

And someone saved my life tonight sugar bear
You almost had your hooks in me, didn't you dear
You nearly had me roped and tied
Altar-bound, hypnotized
Sweet freedom whispered in my ear

You're a butterfly
And butterflies are free to fly
Fly away, high away, bye bye

I never realized the passing hours
Of evening showers
A slip noose hanging, in my darkest dreams
I'm strangled by your haunted social scene
Just a pawn out-played by a dominating queen
It's four o'clock in the morning
Damn it! listen to me good
I'm sleeping with myself tonight
Saved in time, thank god my music's still alive

And someone saved my life tonight, sugar bear
You almost had your hooks in me, didn't you dear
You nearly had me roped and tied
Altar-bound, hypnotized
Sweet freedom whispered in my ear
You're a butterfly
And butterflies are free to fly
Fly away, high away bye bye

And I would have walked head on into the deep end the river
Clinging to your stocks and bonds
Paying your h.p. demands forever
They're coming in the morning with a truck to take me home
Someone saved my life tonight, someone saved my life tonight
Someone saved my life tonight, someone saved my life tonight
Someone saved my life tonight
So save your strength and run the field you play alone

And someone saved my life tonight, sugar bear
You almost had your hooks in me, didn't you dear
You nearly had me roped and tied
Altar-bound, hypnotized
Sweet freedom whispered in my ear
You're a butterfly
And butterflies are free to fly
Fly away, high away, bye bye
