Low B or High C?

Neither. High B and have it like a 5 string guitar but an octave lower.

I would opt for the low B. I've played on a six for 7 years and found that 9 times out of ten, you'll need the low B more than a high C. But, I personally really enjoy having the high C too. Especially if you get into a lot of tapping.

Go for the low B. I frequently go down there in my more soft rock kinds of things, so I'm sure you could find a use for one. Those low notes are incredible for cadences. A high C is just... eh, so unlike bass. While you could certainly find a use for it, I wouldn't do it unless you were going solo. If you get the guitarist back, it may become useless. I could still think of some decent uses for a high C or maybe even an F, but still... nothing that would justify the extra weight and size, at least not for me.

u dont need a high C, cuz u already have a high C on the G string, get the low B, which u might actually need.

That's a blanket statement... I disagree. I think it depends on ur application and your genre of music... how many pieces in your band... etc.

well yah its going to depend, but that extra string on the top doesnt need to be there if you want to play something higher than a C. the B string under the E will come in handy if you need to play a note lower than the E.

Why not play a six that uses guitar tuning. EADGBE. Dunno if that would work or not. Never seen it before on a bass.

ahhhhhhhhh, i just tuned to C, O it feels so good. I have a nice loose C string thats great for bending, I was playing to my guitarist, and he thought i was playing a guitar lol. I feel so much better, I just coulnt take that floppy and annoying B string(no offense guys)

If i had a 5 i would definatly use a high c. I think personaly it would give more melodic options. I wouldnt have a big use for the low B. I would definatly use the c more.

I'm setting up my next 4 string for B,E,A,D and have future plans for a 5 string short scale with a high C.
My current(and only)bass is in standard tuning.
