Low cost, tapping, pristine slapback delay to double 8:th notes?.

Garrison also does the 4-finger thing (all fingers except pinky) which is worth trying. I don't use that technique all the time but it's ludicrously fast, especially if the line is fairly simple other than the subdivision.

As far as delay pedals I wouldn't overthink it for something like this. Something like the Boss DD-8 should fit your criteria and most music shops carry them.

Thanks!
Looking at the boss homepage as well as vendor pages, I still fail to see how to set these pedals up for one single repeat. I have some decent experience in rackmount studio/live multi effects, like the SPX900, tc electronics M-ONE XL, lower tier Lexicons and so on, but the minimalistic interface, and the lack of details in online information leaves me puzzled.
I would prefer spending less than for DD8, and Flashback is a bit cheaper. However, BOSS is probably more reliable nowadays?

Turn down the feedback all the way. That should give you one repeat.

For posterity: Got the solution to this as a freebie when I bought a Boss SY-1. Setting 1 in the sequncer mode will put out a "machine gun salvo" of synth bass notes (in the same pitch!). Timbre can be set from dark to bright, and speed is continuosly adjustable. Triggering is great, as reported over and over. Basic character of this sound works well for the songs I have in mind. Maybe a little light in the very lows, but responds well to the bass control on my amp.

As the topic says, looking for a pedal mainly to turn ie 120 bpm 8:th notes to 16:ths to get a sequenced synth bass feel. Mono, decent cost, tap tempo, pristine reps. Preferrably not made in China, and no brands exclusive to Amazon, ebay etc.
If it can do more, fine, but next level worth looking into would be something with shimmer/crystals.
I'd use a Malekko Charlie Foxtrot for perfect stutter delay.
You say no Amazon, and this week I got the Last TC electronics pedal at my local music store (on Harvard Av Allston) and found out TC is going Sweetwater and Amazon exclusively. It was the effect I wanted, the hypergravity mini compressor and I was able to load in the toneprint program I like, but it might be my last TC purchase. Glad I got a Spark Boost already. and the Viscous Vibe. and chorona

Thank you, but if you had read through the posts, you should have seen that I already have a solution. Answer is the post above yours.
Someone else might use the info, though...
