Low D: D1 or D2?

According to Wikipedia, when a bass guitar is in tuned to Drop D, the strings are tuned as follows: D1, A1, D2, G2.

If your vocal range is D2 to C4, then you have a "bass" vocal range and are probably male.

Thanks! You really sorted me out.

I messed up... When I was finding my vocal range, I just did it through a tuner, and for some reason assumed the C I was hitting was the one on the 5th fret of the G string. After reading that link, I decided to hear what a middle C actually sounds like:



This sounds like the C at the 17th fret of the G string, and this is what I'm able to sing... So if this is C4, then C3 would be at the 5th fret, and the G string would be a G2... I don't quite understand why the piano sequencer G2 sounds so much lower than my bass open G string though... I guess I need a LOT more ear training. LOL... I was playing with a pick, which does bring out more overtones. When I pluck with my fingers, it sounds closer.
