Low Down Sound 15/6.5 Cab

I've thought about trying another RP xover high passed lower, but that would create over lap and I'm not sure how that would effect the sound, maybe a spike in db at the overlap points?

The reason I'm thinking lower high pass point is to get better off axis response from the mid. I haven't heard the cab yet, just thinkin' ahead just in case. I may like the upper mid spike of the 15KLLF as is.

While I enjoy it, I'm doing this at Don's request, not the other way around (he likes to get some ears on his designs, which was always easy when he had the retail shop, but is more difficult now). So, that's between you and Don! Give him a call. I try out whatever he brings over.:)

I believe the xover point for mine wound up being very steep at 700hz (12db/18db or 18db/24db). Not sure exactly as I basically left it up to Ralf's discretion using Passinwind's as a basis (understanding that PW's was using inordinately expensive components because he had them).

Don told me Tuesday that my cab should be ready at the end of the week and that they had 3 x-over designs they were using. 1 was the HP only 1300hx. He also has their own design full x-over at 800hz along with Pwind’s design modified with a few cheaper parts.

I would gladly trade in all of my preamp preferences and EQing in a heart beat for the loudspeaker knowledge Bill has. Those little folded horns are brilliant. I wish there was a compact commercial one to buy, like a two or three way cab with integrated folded horn.

Don shipped my cab yesterday, and I received it yesterday. The benefit of living in Central Ohio! Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to play through it because I had to audition a drummer, and he ended up being a complete waste of time. :mad: Anyway, the cab looks fantastic, and it sure is light even with the 2u rackspace. The casters work marvelously as well. I'll definitely devote some time to playing with the cab this weekend. :bassist:

No pics = No cab!!

I've got the one that this Ken tested in this thread coming to me. I think Don will ship today. So maybe I'll get it today?? More likely on Monday.

It will get a good work out the rest of this month. Stay tuned........:bassist:

I know, I know. I'll work on takin' a pic too.

Sameday shipping might be a stretch... ;)

My cab will too. My band just happens to be off this weekend.

Very cool! I believe Don made two of these cabs (identical specs). One went to TBer Chef, and I guess you have the other.

Post up when you have a few hours of pounding done on it!

Here is the first LDS 15/6.5 based on Greenboy's design, with approximate 800hz crossover (versus the 1.3K crossover).

This is RSands cab and will ship out today or tomorrow.

It's a beautiful sounding cab, and the form factor is just GREAT (congratulations Greenboy on a very nice design all the way around), and to Don for an expert execution and typically great fit and finish.

I am definitely interested in hearing how it compares to the other 15/6.5 you tried out.

Probably just over 40 pounds. With the casters on mine, it's extremely easy to move around.

Ken which xover did you prefer of the 2 LDS 156 cabs you've tested?
