Steve you must be having a blast with the LEJ's!

There are some killer NAMM basses:

A useless random fact: when placing the order for my LEJ, I was originally thinking of using the buckeye burl top that's now on the LEP .

It definitely doesn't suck!! Haha!! I'm in LEJ heaven!!!!
I'm going to do an LET bass video too!!!
Hope all is well Jai!! You going to NAMM?

yup I'll be there. I hope with the weather that we are experiencing in the southeast we will not be delayed a bunch on our flight. We are leaving tomorrow and have to fly through ATL, which has grounded 1700-1900 flights as of this morning. Hope it clears by tomorrow afternoon.

Do you have the LET 6? I would love to see a video of that one. How's the access to the upper register?

Sounds like you have a busy week!

Yup LEX to ATL to LAX... Amy and I will be checking the flights all morning tomorrow. See y'all out there.

I'm jealous of all you namm goers!

Have fun! :)

On another note I picked up that coral fretless LEPJ that was in the classifieds. That thing KILLS! Just need to get better at playing fretless...it's a whole new world.

Steve, how did you find the tone of the Mahogany/Maple bass compared with the usual Alder/Maple and Ash/Maple? It seemed to have a litte more bottom end and sounded slightly scooped in the mids to my ears.

I like that you played the bass in passive mode too. People are too eager to switch a bass to active mode; the LEJ's sound awesome in passive mode IMO.

Hey Ras!! The silver sparkle/mahogany bass definitely has some mojo, and so does the LEPJ, for me, those two basses were my favorites for sure. Tough to equate woods and tone, I think you can get close, but ultimately you have to get the bass in your hands and see what it does....and yes, the passive tone is KILLER!!! Especially with the passive tone added, on gigs that little tone knob is do valuable!!

So I got a chance to stop by the LowEnd bass shop today, here is a link to pix I took while there:

...well, I ended up taking home the NAMM 2011 LEJ Silver Sparkle 5 string 24 fret to test out and see if I want to settle with it or go with the same thing as a 7 string.

This bass has the incredible switch between 2-band and 3-band (w/ the mid pot in the control cavity) located near the bottom of the bridge.

This bass had single coils, tone control, "the 2/3 switch", Mahogany body, 3 piece neck, Birds eye maple FB and a crap load of mojo.

Here are some pix:

I bet that thing sounds great! I've always regretted selling my mahogany maple lej 5/24...

What are your initial thoughts on the bass?

Holy @$%! and Damm!

Seriously, I got to try this bass at NAMM a couple weeks before, but it's always tough to hear over the din of the convention to fully hear the bass by itself. Also, I wanted to use it on a couple gigs to hear it in a live setting.

Brian usually ships LEJs with SIT Steel strings, so the first thing that I did is change the strings to SIT Power Nickels and give it a set up to my specs. After a thorough break in this evening and a rehearsal this week; I'll have a better platform to give my thoughts.

Well, this LEJ is available if you are interested... I'm still toying with a bass like this but in 7 strings.
