Low F# and GK-3B

so... i looking at a 7-stringer and possible upgrade with a roland gk-3b. it is going to be tuned low F# standard.

question is - how is gk-3b in tracking low F#?
since it has six pickups, it can not be used to track all seven strings. should i skip low F# or high B?

I reckon F# is going to track really slow. I'm down to C and its okayish.. go with the highest string.

I have both SY1000 and VB99 , tracking with low B is top notch.
Never tried lower than that , I don't see the point of having lower.
( transposition on these units is stellar )

If we talk "Pitch To Midi" than I agree that the lower the pitch , the slower it gets

Forgot to mention :
I tried a guitar in my VB99 and it didn't work over a certain register , the equivalent of a 26 fret 6 string bass
( D3 ? )
So it probably have a register limit lower too .... I'll try to drop tune a low B , I'll report

What are you planning to use the GK to trigger? Most Roland/Boss units have a mix of sounds that are created using your input signal (like the bass/guitar/some other string instrument models and Dynamic Synths) and alternatively sounds that are pitch-tracked sample sounds (like the OSC Synths and most of the instruments in the GR units). The pitch-tracked sample sounds are going to be too low to track at all I believe (below the tuning threshold of the unit), and even if they could they'd be super slow to trigger. The other sounds should work just fine in theory, though I could imagine a very large string with the pickup right up against the bridge might sound relatively imbalanced vs the others (can't verify this though)

Both my Roland GI-20 and Boss SY-1000 only go down to B (up to C).

The GI-20 (pitch to MIDI converter) is just about useless with a B string, but the SY-1000 handles it Oh Kay. I stick to EADG for most of my playing.

I’d personally use the pickup from B to C, where it will definitely work!
