Low F# string on a standard 4-String Bass?

I would e-mail Conklin first, when I got mine he said he didn't know when they would be available again, the one I got he found hidden on a self and had be cut down but not used, it was long enough for me to use on mu bass though.

Like I was saying....if you just need strings get ahold of Garry Goodman at octave4plus.com or on this TB site. He makes strings for any bass up to I believe a Low G(00) That is a .270 gauge string. But the other option is SIT. I have always liked both strings but it is up to you. I would lean towards Garry's because he will make the string for your basses exact measurements. And any other questions regarding bass builds or setups ask Jauqo III-X. I have .186E0 on my 6 string 35inch scale from Garry and it sounds great. My tuning for my bass is EADGCF all an octave lower.

Ok, I've been seeing the Warwick Vampyre BO Dark Lord bass tuned F#-B-E-A, I play in a Hrdcore Metal band and I think its awesome and I'd like to play one, but they're hard to find and cost a lot of $$$. So I was thinking could I just take a 4-String and put F#-B-E-A strings on it? Or would the neck snap or something?

Actually that would be less stress on the neck than a normal set of strings EADG ... the D and G strings put the most stress on the neck.

Well I talked to Jaquo, and he said that I'll need pickups wrapped to handle those frequencies, a new pre-amp, plus the low strings and the neck set up to handle its all. So it looks like this is gonna be more than money than I thought D=
