LOW gain on Sonar 4 Producer Edition

My recording setup is "plain jane"...USB (from my Bass Pod XT Live) to my 'puter using Sonar 4 Producer Edition. Essentially, all I need this set up to do is to import a song on one track and then record my practice sessions on another track so that I can go back later and listen for obvious weaknesses. Problem is, that the bass signal "in" is so weak that it's barely discernable. I've verified that my level out from my Pod is maxed out, so I'm thinking I'm missing something really basic on my Sonar setup. If any of you can point me in the right direction, I'd be eternally grateful! :D

You may have to adjust the input level on the computer itself in audio properties/advanced/recording and see what those levels are like.

Is there a seperate softeware application for the Pod that is running when you run Sonar? What kind of options does that have for gain settings?

Have you set the input in Sonar to left, right or stereo and see if that makes a difference?

Have you used multiple instruments?

Have you added a gain pedal in front of the POD?

Just some trouble-shooting thoughts.
