Low paying gig...take the cheap gear?

And the gig went well, right? And the audience loved it, right? And since the stage layout was tight, you were able to play well, since you weren't concerned about your instrument's safety?

Sounds to me like good choices were made.

Right...place itself was tight. Getting in and out was ridiculous. Knocking into people while carrying gear. Took the G&L Jazz Tribute and didnt worry about it.

As i said previously...alot of people that responded (and I do appreciate all the input) equated taking cheaper basses to not doing a good job or giving less than 100%. That is incorrect. Sure I wanted to take an expensive bass initially but I ended up taking something about $9700 cheaper.

Agreed, my presumption will always be that any bass I would take to a gig would be 100% capable of delivering that gig, irrespective of price tag (otherwise why would I own it unless it was an object d'art or a woodworking project).

Once you set that as a baseline, anything else is purely personal preference.
