My left index fingertip has become somewhat sensitive recently. Past couple months. A while back, like 4-5 months or so, I put GHS Precision flats on my 35" Schecter bass, and Ernie Ball Group flats on my ESP RB-1005.

The easiest thing seems to be lower tension, or softer strings. I've ordered a set of La Bella LTF's for the ESP, but I'm not sure what to put on the Schecter. I'm aware of TI extra long Jazz flats - are there other extra long "soft" strings out there?

Are we talking about thru-body installation on a 35" scale, where you actually need 38" winding length (ball end to silk)? Or can they be top-loaded?

Most "long scale" strings are 37"-37.25" in winding length, which should be long enough for top-loading on a 35" scale, but probably not long enough for thru-body on a 35" scale.

The Schecter is a top-loader, but I tried D'Addario long scale XL's, and the winding stepped down about 1/4" short of the nut.
Regular long-scale DR's have worked OK. So I'm thinking 37-3/4 is probably OK, and 37-1/4 is probably too short. Currently it has the extra long GHS Precision flats on it.

Close but no cigar... :cigar:

I was going to suggest the Dunlop Flats 40-100 for something flexible and low tension but they only come in "long scale" with 37.25" winding length.
