From another sub $20 bass thread.

For the nay-sayers I've used a Glarry-a-like bass for almost 3 years now as my home practice instrument so it has seen hundreds of hours playing time (the secret is giving it a good setup). I've taken it to a few rehearsals but wouldn't gig with it only because being sub 6lbs it has considerable neck dive (sitting down to practice this is not a problem for me).

robhe has not answered the two messages I've sent him so far. All 4 orders are marked as shipped, but the one supposedly shipping from NJ is missing tracking info. Not too concerned.

On the other hand, I ordered one of them acoustic basses for CAD 17.99. Not marked as shipped, seller not responding, and his items for sale is a strange mix. Massage table. Hydroponic growth tent. Floor fan. I'm expecting a message from ebay soon.

My 17.99 acoustic is showing as shipped - but so is my Exquisite Burning Fire from daco.
I got the same message about a compromised account as some of the other posters. I'll contact the bay on the weekend or something, but I hope robhe comes back.

My acoustic received a tracking number from China post but ebay does not show as shipped yet.

I ordered a bass from robhe8875.
I'm from Europe, but the tracking info says it is shipped to Miami.
I found my tracking number on this page: Link Removed ad there the item is described as: 'Express trackable Letter post'.
Detailed tracking information tells me the item has already been three times "Guangzhou, delivered to air transport" and two times 'Guangzhou City, Guangzhou International Center return, Note: Security return'.

All in all I'm not too confident that i will ever see a $ 19.99 bass.

As much fun as it is to get an interesting bass to play and experiment (for CHEAP), the behind the scenes story is even more intriguing to me.

It's the mixture of contemporary global commerce and capitalism, literacy (how to tell if it's real or not, the deal, the item, the reviews), how world events influence all of this (coronavirus). I'm just so curious what is going on. Anyone else feel this way? The comments from @Mike Whitfield are really appreciated. I've learned a lot. Thanks.

Agreed, it's incredibly interesting. China's been a huge disrupter, to the point that the old adage "you get what you pay for" no longer necessarily applies. We've never had anything like China's combination of productivity, cheap labor, widespread fraud and high manufacturing competency controlled by an all-powerful central government who take a much longer strategic view than any Western government or corporation. Their almost unrestrained capitalism in service of a Communist government is unique and they've certainly lifted incredible numbers of people out of poverty. All that gives us deals that look too good to be true, but sometimes they actually are true. I'd really hate to be a corporate buyer responsible for figuring out which deals to make and which to avoid. Or a corporate executive trying to compete with them. (Although as a corporate executive I'd still bank millions even if my company fails; I'm guessing nothing takes the sting out of failure like ten or twenty million dollars.)

Mine was just delivered today! To someone in Delaware, when I live in North Carolina. and the tracking says it originated from Amazon in Connecticut, not in California where Daco was listed as. and eBay has already disabled their (Daco) account & sent messages saying it was a compromised account. But surely it must be legit, right?

China Post ePacket is a special EMS service whose price and speed are between EMS and airmail. Normally it will take about 2 to 4 weeks to arrive destination country.

China Post ePacket tracking# has 13 digits which starts with L and ends with CN. i.e LN123456789CN .

Yep, from level of panic and hysteria seen over a (eBay money back) $20 bass ... I wouldn't be surprised that people are already posting negative feedback and demanding refunds.

I'm now convinced that if I had 200 basses to give away free with shipping. I could get a bunch of negative feedback in just a couple days.

I'm having bit of fun with this of course. I'll wait a reasonable shipping time per the eBay time frame.
I have a few dollars out there. If it doesn't go though (no bass) I get my money back... no big deal.

I have 3 on order all from Robhe.
The blue P ones due March 7-16.Shipped USPS ground.No tracking number.
The black Glarry P/amp combo.is coming from China. That's shipped & has a tracking number. That's due April 7.
The white Glarry P hasn't shipped yet.Only ordered it Tuesday. Supposed to come from a US location.
I also ordered a Glarry J for $58 including tax.That's from Mulchoice.That's shipped & has a FedEx number. Coming from California.
Did it through Paypal. So.I guess I'm protected. I did use an eBay gift card for a couple so I'll see how the refund works if I need it.

I posted earlier about getting some masks for my grandson from China.
It was a price too good to be true deal. I also thought it was a scam. I told him not to expect them. We forgot about them because the shipping time was so far out coming from China but, about a day or two from the last promised arrival date, they showed up. It was also free shipping on a $4.00 item.

I see the same kind of complaints & expectations on TB about higher priced basses.
Last year I bought an Ibanez guitar from someone that paid over $400. Insisted the neck was defective because of buzzing. I paid them $300. Quarter turn of the trussrod & it was perfect. I even offered to sell it back to them for the $300 but they didn't believe it was fixed. They keep posting on another website that all Ibanez guitars are junk.
