LP shaped bodies?

A Hamer Monaco is a cool alternative, you don't see them for sale too often but when you do the used price is very agreeable for a US bass of this build quality. Still the only full-scale singlecut Lester inspired bass that I've personally played with no neck dive, I've owned mine for a few years and it is easily my main passive bass.

Nice! Like most Hamers, looks authentic yet original.
It seems they're very inspired by the 2Tek bridge. Didn't Hamer used to have a model with an original 2Tek back in the day?

Even 1200 is out of my price range and even if i wasnt i have yet to find a place that has one in stock for me to try in a 50 mile radius.

This may sound picky but the flat tops do nothing for me. If im getting a Lp i want the curved top. so that rules out the epi that and it only comes in the faded black

i will have to check out the dean...

The 5 stringers are rare and pop up here and on ebay and go for about 700 to 950 these days usually although I've seen them as high as 1300....

This one sold just last month here...

If you feel like dishing out more money, there is a Gibson Les Paul bass, which was oversized and, to me, looks more appropriate as a bass with the large size.

+1 I think the Gibson Les Paul Standard Bass Oversized is one of the best looking Les Paul style basses. For some reason, a regular Les Paul body seems out of place for me. The body looks too small attached to the longer neck. For my personal preference, an overized body looks much better for this design.

If not for the price, I'd be all over it. MSRP starts at $2399. Take a bit off for street price & you're still looking at an approx. $2K bass.

The "street" pricing I have seen on the net is as follows:

$1689 for the gold top
$1849 for the cherry sunburst
$1559 for the ebony

So the street pricing is about 35% down from MSRP.

IMHO, I think the ebony looks the best since the black headstock color matches the body color. But again, that's just purely my opinion.
