LS-2 Line Selector help

I bought an LS-2 in order to be able to switch between all my ambient effects (chorus, phase, delay) and fuzz (little big muff) and clean. however, now that I have it, I am having trouble getting it setup how I want and would enjoy any input. Basically I would like a setting like A<>B<>A&B mixed (I can bypass them all since I have the LS-2 in my VFB-2 loop) but it doesn't have that setting. any tricksy ideas about how I might accomplish this?

Not without additional circuitry. A simple resistive mixer to combine A+B then fed into the main input would work, then the bypass mode would actually be A+B.

Can you explain it a little more so I might better wrap my head around this idea?

Would a modder be able to change a setting on the LS-2 to A<>B<>A&B?

Any other products out there that might do what I want? (I just got the LS-2 and it's still in the return window)
 
Modding the pedal in that way is likely to be difficult, although without seeing a schematic it's impossible to say really.

A simple ABY box will do what you want, you just stomp on both switches at the same time to select A+B. But, there's other issues that come with that, namely potential for ground loops and the lack of buffering. Definitely worth a try though.

I was on another planet yesterday, clearly, because it's more complex than I alluded to. It would require some external switching and mixing, so you're probably just better off trying an ABY box or similar. If you're really keen, the Lehle stuff is just awesome, but there'd be plenty of others making products to fit the bill. Start by looking for ABY boxes and true bypass loopers and you'll soon find a bevy of little tools that do these kinds of jobs.

looks pretty simple to me, though I dont see the selector in there anywhere so perhaps it's a digital switch of some sort? (of course, I know practically nothing of all this stuff :smug: )
 
I see where you're going with this. You want to have separate FX loops that you can run independently or together.

I think this would be a another "mode" added to the LS2. Looking around for mods on the web yesterday -- not many Boss mod guys do much to these, it seems.

An A/B/Y box will do that -- but you won't have the independent level control you get out of the LS2 using it like a mini 2-ch mixer this way. Which is obviously the big advantage. Plus the ground loop potential -- not so good.

Niftydog has good advice, though. There are little guys out there making niche devices like what you want. I'd say if Loooper were still making boxes, he could build one for you. Check the site out, anyway: http://www.loooper.com Good stuff.

ideally I could get the LS-2 modded in some way, it seems to be a super handy pedal to have around.

nifty, that Lehle D. loop looks sweeeeeeet, however it's out of my price range currently. thanks for more GAS though!

Not necessarily, you could use a resistive mixer. If you make it with pots you can even have some attenuation control over the loops.

That loopmaster thing looks the biz, but you don't need to spend that sort of cash to achieve the same result.

I really don't think it's that easy to mod, but I could be proved wrong! My feeling is that there's a microprocessor, or at least some logic inside that controls the modes and the switching elements. That makes simple hacking difficult. Of course, if you could somehow jury rig the mode switch then it's do-able, but again it's difficult to say without seeing a schematic.

Dude.... I'm really sorry if I'm being dense here..... but I still don't get this resistive mixer concept. I looked them up and all I could find was this: DOD 240) It combines 4 inputs to 1 output... how do I make it do the A<>B<>A&B loop select that I want. would I use this in conjunction with the LS-2?

really, I apologize.... maybe I'm too dumb for this?! :eyebrow:
 
OK - I finally read-through this topic, and would imagine that I could give at least one definitive, complete solution (if I'm allowed to use more than one device - hopefully including the LS) - but I'm not sure exactly what "A<>B<>A&B" means!

Do you mean to put two loops in either series or parallel?

Ok, Spacelordmother, you are really close to understanding this, don't despair!! There's a few ways of achieving the same thing, but I'll show you the simplest I can think of.

i know i'm reviving this from years ago, but this is exactly what i'm doing! my question is if i can use a different value other than 2K for the pot resistor. 5K? 1K? will those work?
 
Both Nady and Behringer make simple mini mixers for less than 30 bucks. They're active mixers, not as prone to some of the problems resistance mixers are. They're not great, but I owned the Nady and it wasn't bad. Did the job just fine. I wouldn't go back to it from my Badger parallel looper, but it's a place to start if you just want to dabble.
