LTD ESP Basses

I've got the B206 SM, swapped the electronics for an Aguilar obp3 and it sounds killer. Plenty of tones.
Last week I picked up a BM205 fretless that I ordered and I am really happy with it. Spalted and flamed maple top! I'll post pics when I get home

Yup. I wandered into Sam Ash looking for nothing in particular. Was SO impressed with the B206SM I left the store with it even though I need another 6 string bass like a hole in the head. Best factory neck I ever played. Spalted look that is a dead ringer for my Bass Mods 7 string (that cost a LOT more!). I haven't even changed the electronics and love it. Now I'm have GAS pains trying to get a fretless in the same thing which I don't think they make.

I tried my first ESP LTD - a B-206SM, and bought one immediately after. LOVE the guitar. I bought another one, a prototype B-336SM, that is drop dead gorgeous.

While I liek the tone on my B-206SM, the tone is better on my B-336SR (same EMG electronics as the B-416SM) - but the NECK and playability on both guitars is unreal. I tried, TRIED to like Bongo 6's. I REALLY wanted to like them. I have played several, but found the neck impossible (no wonder Myung plays 5 string necks on his 6 string Bongo - the 6 string neck is wider than all outside). After playing several Bongo 6's, I gave up on ever owning one. The ESP LTD's are so much faster, and easier, and I like the tighter string spacing (not because I have smaller hands, I don't - but because it's easier to grab extremely quick notes off of multiple strings when they are closer rather than further away - simple distance). You really cannot go wrong with these guitars - the tone is IMHO better than most Ibbies, the price is unbeatable, and the playability is stellar, especially when compared with much more expensive basses.

ESP LTD basses are great guitars. Here are mine (with fretwraps):

Here's a quick crappy mobile phone pic of my new B-205 fretless. I'll take some better ones of both tomorrow

I love this simply beautiful blue bass to play. It's comfortable, sounds modern with the ESP pickups. Really fit to metal. In this old picture it has Elixir strings ( 45-105). I recently put DR Black beauties to test. And the sound is better to my ears.

I think some are good and some are not. The biggest difference being the electronics. So if your planning on swapping pickups anyways they can be great deal. But as far as buying one without planning to upgrade pickups down the road I'd try to get at least a 400 lvl b or f series or a surveyor. The surveyor basses are pretty nice playability and tone wise stock but if i got one I'd have to add a pickgaurd to do something about the look.

Yes, and the LTD B-204FM is the only all-active bass in my herd, at the moment! It's equipped with Dunlop Nickel Plated Light, 40-60-80-100 strings. You'll find quite a few fans of LTD on Talkbass...

We've got 45 pages (and counting) on the Official ESP Club thread!
