LTD Surveyor 414

Does anyone here have one of these? How do you like it? Can it do anywhere near a Stingray tone? Where is this model made? Would you buy this bass again?

I had a Surveyor recently which wasn't bad. I wouldn't say you could easily get a Stingray tone, mainly due to the EMG pups. I sold it because my other LTD was way better. Not a bad bass -BUT- do yourself a favor and hunt down an ESP/LTD J-1004. Out of production Jazz style bass (a real true Jazz body w/ very stylish pearloid binding), all Hipshot parts, incredible neck and overall build, a bit heavy for most (not me) but my favorite bass out of more than a dozen that I own. The J-1004 also has EMG pickups, sounds great. I can't say enough about the J-1004!! I'd pass on the 414 unless the price is right

I've only briefly played a friend's 5 string version so can't rally comment myself, but I love the styling.
I remember the bass got an excellent glowing review in BP magazine a couple of years back, if you search on their website you might find it. Apparently the neck pickup gives a close approximation of the classic P bass sound.

Oh, and the LTD Surveyors are Korean-made, while the ESP standard ones are Japanese.
