LTD vs Squier??

I own the MF and have played the LTD in the store. I'd have to go with the MF. Love that bass. The build quality is first rate and sound quality is awesome. The tone knob on the MF goes from very smooth sounds to a more aggressive tone depending on what you want. I felt the LTD sounded a little thin and flimsy (kinda cheap) no matter where I set the knobs.

I'd say that a proper punk ethos would demand that you get whatever you want, and not care about what other people think.

That being said, the 2 basses you listed are different animals. One is a straight P, the other a P/J. The neck finishes and back contours are different. You can get the -204 with a rosewood board in black and burst, or a maple board in black. The Freeman is only available with a maple/maple neck in black or vintage white.

A lot of the choices depend on your personal preferences, none of which you mentioned.

I know about the different finishes and colors. Just wanted to know a bit about quality, and which one of them are most suited for the music I play. I do not know to much about basses myself. :)

Oh yeah...except for the "factory defect" the bass was great.

The Matt Freeman is a solid hunk of bass guitar. The pickups are pretty hot and the various tones sound fantastic. IMHO any bass on the market can play any style of music so ultimately you should get the one you like. It sounds like you are asking about quality though, and based on that I have to give the edge to he Matt Freeman. I do like the LTD vintage model (the roughed up look) and went to the store to buy one. I just couldn't pull the trigger because it felt and sounded a little "thinner." The MF squier is pretty "ballsy" and has some serious ooomph. I could not justify why I would have that in my arsenal cause I did not see myself playing that over my MF precision or my jazz bass. In terms of build and fnish quality, I would put the MF about on par with the Japanese Fenders such as the Geddy Lee jazz.
