So it might be a crazy idea, but I was thinking it would be cool to put together a poll to find out what things woodworkers and Luthier’s would really like the most for Christmas. That way we could just show our significant others this thread… And by “show”, I mean, “accidentally” leave the computer on with this page open, so that they can secretly see it and Know what we want…

what things do you either always find yourself lacking and needing more of, or what would you really like to add to your shop… Within a reasonable Christmas present Price budget of course ? I tried to add stuff in a variety of price ranges, from $100 to about $500. I added the option for you to make two selections…

All super useful things !
I use the jigsaws here quite a bit….I use them to rough cut the mfd templates I make. It’s a LOT faster than using a bandsaw, and since I’m using the spindle sander to sand to the edge of the lines anyway, it doesn’t matter if there’s not a perfect cut.

Trim routers are great too. I use my porter cable all the time. I’d love to have a Colt though.

Clamps. Always more clamps. I went for planer too, as I am in the market for at least a 15" planer. I would prefer larger. I can't really afford a new one, so Facebook Marketplace is my friend.

Getting my hands on a drum sander, in my case a 26" Woodmaster, was a pivitol moment in growing my business. It's a must have.

Outside of the Festool which is not cheap, the larger version of the Bosch jigsaw is the way to go. Every shop I've worked in for the last 10 years has used those because they cut cleaner, last a long time, and most jigsaw blades will fit them.

I second the Bosch…. It’s a “cut above” most jigsaws

Bought myself a new oscillating spindle sander this Summer... I mostly use it for fitting upright bass bridge feet. It's perfect for this, but also great for other jobs.
