LYRICS! DROP EM HERE!

Performed Friday and Saturday night, debuted two new songs ("Only Human" and "Another Day On the Battlefield"). Lots of compliments. Bass tone was kickin' until the last couple of songs. Volume was dead. If only I had checked the "Line Out" Cable after I got tangled in a mess of the things...

At least most of the gig was BASSically sound...

Man that was lame.

I don't think you'll get in trouble with TB as long as it's not bashing. And if you're worried about religious people, you'll find that those of us that are not close-minded and radical (which, thankfully not many of those on talkbass that I've encountered are even close, and I'm not.) are usually ready and willing to listen.

Therein lies the prblem. It's nothing personal, just on a grand scale and bashing ALL religion.

Oh, not NOT. Okay then. TB might flag it then... Still, as long as you do not sterotype Christians as many people do, (A bunch of backwards, hateful, and ignorant hypocrites, which is only really true of our regrettedly extremist counterparts), or even other religions, I'd love to hear it sometime. I still have immense respect for you as a lyricist.

Good luck with all your writing!

Thanks, maybe sometime there'll be a time and a place I can share them. Until then, here's one about a DeHaviland Mosquito, but given a few word changes could be about a mystical being destroying the world in a Painkiller style:

WOODEN WONDER
Silver angel,
Streak of light,
Diving down into the fight.

Assassin’s bullet,
Pillar of fire,
Burning ships a funeral pyre.

Deadly bird,
Lightning strike,
Deathly enemy of the Reich.

Neptune’s trident,
Hail to flame,
Man or machine, it’s all the same.

(Chorus)
Wooden wonder,
Blood and thunder.
Angel of death,
Angel of life,
Heaven sent, hell bent for glory.
The legacy remains, as mortals tell the story.

Odin’s wrath,
Mighty warrior,
War machine superior.

Fearsome wraith,
Rolling thunder,
Dive down to hell and drag you under.

Holy demon,
Hammer fall,
Living still, to take on all.

Killing machine,
Speed king,
Rush of death on the wing.

(Chorus)

Thanks.

Here's "Mike's Gone"

Jason's in town, improving his game
Scott's around, two cents to his name,
And David's home, drinking champagne
Bur Mike's gone, Mike's gone
He's gone to surf the hurricane

He said
This has been calling me all of my life
And I've got a house, two kids, and a wife
But I don't care, this feelin's so strong
That's it's not a question of what's right or wrong
So I'm gone, I'm gone
Gone to surf the hurricane

Chorus:
Some lives are safe, some families secure
Some men stay home, some walk out the door
they flip off the boss, can't deal anymore
They're gone to surf the hurricane

As he stood on his board he couldn't see anymore
Not the faraway beach or the sandy shore
And he thought of that life
No more, no more
Lost inside the hurricane

Riding the waves he can hear
The sound of his fate in the atmosphere
Blown by the wind, washed by the rain
Lost inside the hurricane
Lost inside the hurricane

I was feeling a bit sarcastic, even for me a while back. So I wrote a song from the point of view of someone who actually wants to grow up to be a hack, but a successful one. But remember to read with tongue very firmly in cheek.

SELL OUT

Verses:

They said if I worked hard, I might go far
I don’t want to work, I wanna be a star
If you want to go on TV and pretend to sing
Don’t study music, study marketing

I can’t wait to sell my soul
Selling out is the way to go
Corporate sponsors: Look at me
I’ll get my own show on TV

Paparazzi’ll stalk me every day
Tabloids’ll wonder if I’m gay
I’ll have to get an entourage
Being cool will be my job

I’ll take starlets to the hottest clubs
I’ll have pet Siberian Tiger cubs
Rumors about me’ll make the news
I’ll wear diamond-covered shoes

When I get bored, I’ll fake my death
Become a legend- the best part yet
When they think I’m dead, I’ll sell my name
Keep cashing in from beyond the grave

My name is bright red neon lights
Face on a billboard, way up high
Then a designer line of clothes
Of course I’ll have my own cologne

Style over substance- That’s today
Who needs talent anyway?
Talent first? Not anymore
I can’t wait to be a media whore

A good PR machine can make it happen
Every CD is gonna go platinum
The songs don’t even have to be good…
Just “dance-able with attitude”

But for now I have to keep my job
Waiting on tables for these snobs
Playing music for myself
I guess it’s for my mental health

And a possible bridge/chorus feel:

I’ll do perky little ditties only three minutes long
With catchy hooks, perfect popular songs
Tell my corporate masters I’ll do just what I’m told
Who needs self respect, when your selling gold?

I'm back with some new lyrics. Still healing up from Tendinitis, but it's getting better, and I want to keep this post alive so:

IN THE END:

Nothing in your hands will be there when you die.
You only further shade the light when you live your life by lies.
No secret remains hidden in the spotlight, no surprise.
Understand life's frailty, and then you will be wise.

Each day's a gift and each a chance,
to change your ways and circumstance.

Not a single word you say, can ever compensate,
An act is all that matters, before it's all too late.
The measure of a person is the example they create.
The measure of a life is the dash between the dates.

Each day's a difference to make,
'Cause in the end, that's all you'll take.

And finally we all will stand,
all of our actions in our hands.
And what we chose, and how we led,
the smiles we made, and love we spread,
the faith we kept, the ties we mend,
is all that matters in the end.

EACH CHOICE:

Around the world,
within a cage,
all is a show,
on a darkened stage.

Above the clouds,
beyond the sky,
a father weeps,
as we pass by.

Upon the face,
of our comedy,
each choice, a path,
that calls to me.

665

No one speak, no one move.
No one say they know the truth.
No one talk, no one run.
You stare down the barrel of a ready gun.

No one walk, unless we lead:
We kings to rule, and it's decreed,
the morning light will not let out,
we feed upon your fear and doubt.

Save your prayers, we won't allow.
Run you fools around and round.
We'll hold peace for you, when you desire,
to break the calm like wildfire.
we're your lords, and we're your kings,
and it's for us that nature sings.
We hold the power, and we are all,

Society's last words as it slowly falls.....

Now it's you guy's turn to post some new ones. :bassist:

The middle one probably needs a bit of work, but there's alot packed into those few words, so maybe it'll be ok. I'm thinking a kind of "Yours Is No Disgrace" styled thing, where there are only a couple of stanzas of lyrics, but they are good, and they are repeated a few times, centered around a lot of complex instrumental stuff.

FEEDBACK ON ALL SONGS APPRECIATED.
