Mac Advantages Over PC?

Well there's an interesting, uncommon opinion of a Mac. Thanks for sharing your opinion, because it's not often I hear of someone who has a Mac and didn't enjoy it.
I posted in another similar thread that my mom got the most expensive macbook pro with all the goodies coming to almost $5000 and shes had it for about 2 years and now shes wanting me to build her a pc. Its not because she didnt like it or anything she just knows now that cheaper pc could do the same thing.
Go ahead and get one if you really want it, Ive never had a bad experience with one. I just can't get behind Steve Jobs deciding what I can install on my own computer once Ive paid for it.

That's cool, I drive a BMW. If you comparison holds true, that makes a Mac the utlimate computing machine
Well really, once you've already bought a Mac, why buy/build a cheaper PC that can do the same thing? I mean in the first place, yeah why not, but now that she already has the Mac, buying a "cheaper" PC will still amount to having spent the money for the Mac plus the PC, no?
I've thought about how Mr. Jobs is who decides what I'm able to install, but I compare that to the iPod/iPhone. A lot of people are jailbreaking their devices so they can do whatever they want, but I've heard about a lot of problems that occur with this (battery life is lessened, among other things). I think that the device operates at its best when it is in its intended state of non-jailbrokenness. If they're letting us install these programs, it means it should run good with their machines. If not, then we can complain.
I've also always been very comfortable with the non-expandable-storage in Apple's devices. I used to have an MP3 player that used a USB stick for its songs. It sure was easy to put music on it, but I found myself wanting to expand and going out to buy more. With the iPods being non-expandable (comparable to Macs being un-upgradeable) I just accepted that the space provided was all I would ever have, and I made due with it.
This is another reason why I think I'd be comfortable with a Mac.
Believe me I've asked the same question and she just wants a computer in a different part of the house. She could easily buy a mac desktop or another laptop but she insist on a pc. Im not challenging her on it since this way she can buy windows 7 and I can get a free install on my computer 
As far as the non expandable part that has been the reason I just bought my first apple product 2 months ago(iphone). Theres no way I could get the first few gens of ipods with me being a huge music buff...I have wayyy too much to fit on my iphone now but for $50 I couldn't pass up that deal lol

Yeah but they have iPod Classics with around 160 GB now! I had one but I exchanged it for an iPod Touch. I still was able to hold 32 GB of music, which I've found is more than enough so far, and plus I get all the additional functionality of the iPod Touch vs. the Classic. But if you're just using it for music, the Classic is the way to go.
depends on what you plan to do. i record music, so a MAC is heaven for me.
my sister got a brand new dell laptop a year after i got my mac. my mac runs VERY smoothly and she can hardly get hers to turn on. id say macs last longer these days. im 2 operating systems behind and my stuff still runs smooth.

I've been using PCs all my life, and I really see no need whatsoever to move to a mac anytime soon.
this not to mention macs cost like 2-3 times a smuch for an equaly powerful system.
Macs do cost more, but have you ever tried to sell a used PC?
Macs hold their value far better, I sold my Emac (new $700) used for $400 after using for three years. I sold my Mac Book (new $899) used for $600 after two years when I mover up to the Macbookpro.The other issue is the speed numbers are deceptive. PC machines have a lot of unnecessary stuff load at start up and I found when I had one I was constantly deleting unnecessary programs. While there are some things PC's do better, they are none of the things I need (not a gammer) so for me the choice isn't difficult, and Mac is certainly a more stable system. I literally turned down the free PC laptop from work because it had so many failures.
The other thing I notice is while Mac has a lot of OS changes the old machines seem to take a lot longer to become obsolete. I would still consider a G4 for the computing I do (mostly Lightroom and photoshop), but their aren't many four year old PC laptops I would consider for anything.

If you bought or built a $2000 PC 4 years ago I promise you it'd still be able to do what you needed it to do today.
I've been using a Mac's all my life, and I see really see no need whatsoever to move to a PC anytime soon.
Actually, I had to go to PC for 2 years at work. It was the worst 2 years of my life. It sucked. Everything about it sucked. When I was allowed to choose my platform for the next lease, my choice was obvious. Others in my department went PC and they are not happy with their choice these days.
I usually give my old ones away to friends in need. They still work fine, I just want something newer. It typically costs me about $500 for a PC, so giving it away three or fours years later is no big deal.

My machine is a dual G4 which I bought about 10 years ago. I want to replace it now, since some of the newest software will only run on an Intel Mac. But other than that, it runs like a charm.
I use a mac because I like them. Also now I use one because my main application is Logic (sequencer/audio recording), and since Apple bought it, it only runs on Macs.
