Mac Recording Question

There should be several threads on this already if you search.
I admit that I tried going the cheap and dirty route when I started. Just a big frustrating mess. Get an interface dingus. You might be able to find a single dingus to plug your patch cable into that'll then plug into your usb port. I'm not up on recent developments there. My recommendation is to get a firewire interface like the Presonus Firebox. That's what I use, so I can speak about it. It's dead quiet and has huge headroom (firewire is designed from the ground-up for audio/video, whereas usb is for data - not as good). The Firebox also gives you tons of flexibility down the road. Good luck and get the right tool, you'll not miss the frustration.
