Double Bass MacGyver Strikes Again

I like my amps up close to ear level so I can hear some highs instead of just the lows you hear when it's on the floor. I'm usually up against a wall behind us and that gives me plenty of coupling even without floor coupling.

3M Dual Lock to the rescue. My Phil Jones Bass Cub Pro doesn't have the interior room to mount an inside pole mount socket (and I wouldn't want to cut a hole into it even if it did). I just put four small pieces of 3M Dual Lock on the bottom of the amp, and four corresponding pieces on the bracket I cut from 1/4 inch ply, and mounted an external pole mount socket on the bracket. Works like a charm.

MacGyver? More like MacGilligan!
Well, we now know that the Gear Junkie, is not a Tool Junkie! I've seen straighter cuts on Beaver dams...
When is your birthday, rick? I'd like to send you a ruler and a T-square as a gift!
(jk!!!!!)
But...if it works for you, it works for you.
I'll show myself out.
edit: I sound too HARSH above, and I need to clarify that the idea is good, but the execution is wanting.
Thanks.

I did something similar...

I simply bolted a metal tray (actually an old laptop computer shelf) to the pole mount bracket, then mount that on the speaker stand, and then put the amp on the metal tray, additionally secured by bungee chords. Works great, very secure.

Speaker stands are ideal for a wide range of heights too, I usually set my amp to about shoulder height.

(And yes, I use a very small amp, Roland Micro Cube Bass RX. :D )

Obligatos?

Good eyes, Francois! Yes they are Obligatos.

My other faves are Perpetuals, Spiros, and Bel Cantos. I've been thinking about putting the BCs back on (A,D,G). Thinking of forming a new Weddding Band with Violin (my daughter, Lisa, playing my father's violin), Guitar, and Bass (moi with BCs). I have to kind of start over since We're moving from North Carina up to Wisconsin.

Perfect, Don!! Good thing it's on the bottom where nobody can see it. That's why I don't build speaker cabinets (unlike some of my more talented friends).

You're leaving the Triangle? Bet your playing partners are not happy to hear this news.
On the other hand, the talent bookers at the Wisconsin chicken barns must be looking forward to your arrival! Lots of weddings in the chicken barns.

Probably not as many chicken barns as cow barns. Wisconsin is the cheese capital. That's why they call Wisconsinites 'Cheese Heads'.

Yikes! You buried the lede!
Good Luck, rick.

Don, we'll be living about 20 miles from our old home in Minnesota - just across the St. Croix River. We'll also be about a half mile from our three grandsons which was perhaps the major factor in deciding to move. I've always wanted to try living in a walkable environment and we are right on the edge of the (small) downtown with lots of restaurants, coffee shops, and other tourist magnets. Maybe I'll go 'commercial' and play for the tourists.

I understand about the cheese. But, in many areas a euphemistic "chicken barn" never housed any chickens, but is a venue for weddings, graduation parties, etc. I think the name derived from what was served. My experience is limited to south east and east central Wisconsin. Maybe different on the west side of the state.
Anyway, good luck with the move.
