Mackie 1608 / Crossover

Has anyone explored the idea of not using an external crossover with the 1608 and using shelving eqs on channels to fake it? One channel running out with a "high pass" and one with a "low pass"?

If you're talking about a DL1608 use the HPF on the main outs for the mains and the LPF on one of the auxs for your aux fed sub. That's what I do - works great .

yep; far easier to do now that they have legit parametrics and HPF/LPF on all the outputs, but i faked it with the graphics beforehand, knocking off everything on the other side of 100Hz on the LR outs and on aux 6 as a sub out.

now we can even select the slopes on the filters! i'd assume the 24dB/octave would be the best for crossover duty.

I've been doing that same thing ever since I got mine shorty after they first started shipping. The new HPF and LPH work considerably better IMO.
