Mackie Thump 15 tops without subs

Anyone have experience with the Mackie Thump 15 mains without sub for live shows?
We are on a bit of a budget and I can't decide whether to buy 2 subs or 2 15 mains (Mackie Thump). Each are in the budget but our mains are small old 12" Peavey mains.
Looking at nothing but "Powered" mains or subs.
Who has experience with these particular mains?

Thanks!
Mike

What are you trying to accomplish? Thumps do not have a good reputation, but powered subs at that price will be even worse. If you're wanting to put bass and drums through the PA, neither will work that great.

If you can spend $700, get a single speaker in that price range. Something like a Yamaha Dxr15. It will get louder and sound better than two speakers half the price.

We play small bars. Rock but not real heavy rock anymore. For some reason everyone always turns to the bass player with the truck and $ on PA equipment. I can tell you that anything would be better than what we have now. Yes, mic drums off, I don't necessarily have to put my bass through the PA cause I have plenty of power there. Was just going to buy two subs and pole mount our cheap peavey mains on top of them then I thought, well what if there are some mains out there that can handle drums going through them at a reasonable price. Less equipment to haul around. ;)
Thoughts?

I was in the same boat not long ago. Band looking to gig with no PA. I bought a pair of JBL eon12s. They're ok, but I now use them as monitors. I upgraded to EV EKX 12s and they are really nice sounding. I would drop the sub idea for now. My thought is I don't need to buy one until a drummer in either of the bands I play in puts a mic in front of a bass drum. I would focus on the best pair of 12s, or maybe 15s, you can get either used, B stock, or new.

I've never heard the Thumps, but I did gig some time ago with Mackie SRM 15s and they were good.

I recommend at least checking out Northern Sound and Light in Pittsburgh. I have no affiliation. I found them in a thread here when I was doing some research. The list street prices on their site, but they email quotes with discounted price. I purchased my EVs for $200 each less than elsewhere.

My drummer mics off everything and I'm the one that wants better Front of the House sound that he does. Guess I should have a talk with him on that. No matter what, I'm dropping $ on this so I would hate to be left unsatisfied. I don't have unlimited funds but do want powered mains and good sound.
I'm also thinking that when the bands not playing, that powered would be great for my house. LOL
