I was looking forward to it until I read this article. Mad Max: Fury Road - Eve Ensler Vagina Monologues Interview
Just saw it. Wow.. Eye candy galore. No movie-making elements missing from this flick. There's even a bass-player character.. "Coma-Doof Warrior" plays a double-neck 6-string/4-string Ric. Which shoots FLAMES!!! Dayumm... I need me one of those! This is a must-see flick for any Mad Max fans. Do NOT accept any "armchair" reviews from people who did not actually see it. Its a very entertaining movie. It has all the elements of good movie-making; Lots of action, babes galore, and a good plot. Okay, maybe not so much in the plot department, but seriously, did you really expect plot development in any Mad Max movie? This movie even has some 'touching' moments which are lacking in all the previous 4 movies. Even Ms. SkyChief gave it a thumbs up. Which stands on its own merit. Please don't ask me to qualify that statement.
That's.... nevermind. The movie is effing epic. Haven't seen an action movie this good since, well, the road warrior. See it in the theater.
I saw it on the 9th at a special Alamo Drafthouse screening with a Q&A. It was okay. Not as good as the first two, worlds better then the third. Part of the reason for me not enjoying greatly I believe was that with the assigned seating, I had to sit next to my ex-fiance and her new fiance. We didn't leave on good terms so it was mostly me trying to ignore her while she huffed and got drunk. For those who have seen it, I was disappointed in "The Doof Warrior" He never used OUR weapon.
I don't know if this counts as a subject change, or a continuation. But when someone commented on Charlize being visually perfect, it made me think about combinations of particularly distinctively beautiful actresses playing siblings, or maybe older/younger versions of the same character. The main two pairs I'd like to see together are both ones I picture playing sisters or something similar: Charlize Theron and Katherine Heigl Amy Adams and Isla Fisher Feel free to suggest others.
I saw it today. I give it a solid meh. I'm just not a fan of that corporate blockbuster franchise filmmaking. To me, the old movies represented a filmmaking esthetic. The same kind of filmmaking that Robert Rodriguez or John Carpenter represent. IMO the new Mad Max just doesn't stand for anything except making money. There's no art in it. I felt like I was watching the Transformers or Pirates of the Caribbean. I also got really turned off by the monolog at the beginning. A character speaking his motivation is lazy. Give the viewer some credit to figure it out on their own. Don't telegraph it for the lowest common denominator. Don Draper and Tony Soprano didn't need to tell you what they were thinking.
It's hard for me as a bassplayer to get excited by the Doof Warrior when he.... he uh.... NEVER PLAYS THE BASS!!!!!
For anyone who liked the originals I can't see how they would not like Fury Road. Over the top ridiculous insanity. MAD MAX! I really liked it by the way.
here's a review of the original and a quick peak at the new one, supposedly the new boss is played by the same actor as the toecutter {} Exploring Post-Apocalypse Mad Max | Good Bad Flicks Video Gallery The Escapist‎ - 2 days ago
I agree 100%. The esthetic is lost most of the time in remakes/reboots. Insulting my intelligence is a huge pet peeve of mine when watching movies. I'll likely give this a pass and watch it when it winds up on cable.
Loved Fury Road when I saw it in theaters which, in my mind, is the only way to see it. For the record, I thought the original was a snooze fest, albeit, a unique snooze fest.
I thought it was great! 'Loved Coma-Doof Warrier, and his "wagon", with the (4) bass drummers on the back. 'Just a little back story on Coma; he wears his dead mothers actual face over his face...
Watched it on the weekend and meh, not one I'll recommend to others. I simply didn't care about the characters and what was happening to them... although Charlize is as always, stunningly beautiful. Fishheadjoe
