Made in America???

Where was your (main) bass made?

Couldn't care less where my basses were made. The fact that they were all made in Japan however isn't a coincidence. I bought Japanese because the neck profiles on their p's (fujigen's anyhow...) is slightly smaller than the US Made ones. That said, I have seen and played the new US Standard American P and one day it will be mine.....oh yes....it will be mine.

I honestly wouldn't know how to classify country of origin for my main bass. I suppose I'd have to say UK as I put it together myself. But the parts came from both sides of the pond.

Warmoth body (USA)
Status neck (UK)
Nordstrand pickups (USA)
J-Retro pre (UK)
Badass bridge (USA)
Schaller machines / strap locks (Germany)
Rotosound strings (UK)

"WE ALL" ACTUALLY MEANS US CITIZEN for many many people my friend, im so sorry if my vision is larger thatn yours

knowone was confused by the term "American" you for some reason are trying to make it an issue. Taking it as far as professing you have a larger global vision because you have some information that has no bearing on this topic.

Look your REALLY SMART you know how many countries and territories are in N & S America, in addition you know some slang terms as to what others call us so called "Americans"...

Can we move on?

...but mexico is america, isn't it?
It does not say anything about "united states".

There seems to be confusion about the difference between a country and a continent. Maybe because the poll refers to both countries USA & Japan as well as a continent Europe.

Mexico is not America. It is a country in the North American continent.

Whenever you see "MADE IN ......" it is refering to a country not a continent.

Mexico, USA, Canada, it's all America.

It's not a huge deal to me where my basses were made. That being said, other than a project bass (Indonesian Squire), all but one of my basses were made in America:

NYC Sadowsky
Steinberger XL-2
3 Reverends
Ric 4003
Dark Star Franken P

And the only other bass is a Sadowsky Metro (Japan).

I didn't "set out" to buy mostly American, but that's the way it worked out. :hmm:

which country you mean with America? USA, Canada,Mexico, Brazil , Guatemala ?? we have 35 countries here plus 16 territories. There are excelent mass produced basses made in USA also I am sure there are amazing luthiers in every contry in America, from Canada to La Patagonia.

It's about time someone agreed with me on that! It seems that the only people who realise what 'America' actually *is* speak Spanish...

And while we're at it, 'Made in the USA' doesn't mean much to me, nor does 'Made in Japan.' I've changed my tune on 'Made in Korea' since I saw the stats on that country's eco record, and that's also why I have a problem with 'Made in China.' A lot of my faves seem to be made in the US, but they're not my faves because of that, I like them because they're small producers who make really cool stuff.

Sorry, maybe I should have been more specific:

The title of the thread: MADE IN AMERICA refers to the fact that we *I am speaking as a U.S. citizen living in California* have a massive amount of companies that build instruments right here in the United States of AMERICA. From MY POV, all other basses are foreign made, correct?

I apologize to those that are offended I didn't specify Made in USA, as opposed to North America, Canada, Mexico, Central, and South America.

I only had four available options for my poll. I tried to cover everything possible: USA, Europe, Japan, and "Other". FWIW- When using "Other" it was not my intention to think I frown upon other countries or continents. Or that I think less of them.

Suffice it to say, that most of you have U.S. made basses. Great! I was just wondering about your opinions! That's all. No hard feelings I hope. If your bass is a hybrid, I guess "Other" may be best for you, but, that's your opinion.

Thank you all for your contributions and answers on this poll!

:)
