I've finally listened to the whole first Leeds CD. Wow. The energy coming out of those songs, the bass riffs, Moon's crazy drumming, and that guitar, what a band. I have a whole new appreciation for their abilities to rock now. I remember when I was in grade school (grades 6-8) a kid brought one of their albums to school. It was Who's Next where they're walking away from some concrete structure and had all taken a leak. Talk about a statement.
Last week I was able to muddle my way through both Paranoid and Iron Man. I've been writing the notes down but everytime I listen to the tracks I notice stuff I didn't before.
The plan now is to do the bass tracks (will take me a while) and add them to my montly drum/guitar cover song jamm sessions. We've made 3 recordings of the last 3 jamm sessions with this last session (yesterday) covering the above Sabbath songs. It will be interesting to hear the bass track added and how it changes the songs.
My jamm buddy was nice enough to buy a used bass amp and set it up in his basement. Now I just need to get good enough to play...
