Magnatising a new pickup

Hey,

So I've finally got the second magnet I need in order to magnetize the pole pieces on the pickups I'm making. I placed a magnet either side of a clamp and passed the pickup through the gap a few times. I don't have a Magnetometer so I can't check the strength of the magnets. The info on stewmac says "Several passes through the magnets does the job". I ran them through about 20 times each, is that a reasonable interpretation of several?

oes the pickup seem magnetised, now?

will a small metal screw driver attract to the pole pieces?

If so, you're most-likely good to go...

like ANY pickup, however, the proof is in the sound...

install it, play it...and listen

Okay fairly obvious point ;-)

Yeah it does appear to be magnetised (although I'm not sure each pole has the same strength).

I'll wire it up today sometime...
