Main diff between Squire and Fender?

Why not tighten the gear on the tuner if it goes out of tune....to me it is the only reason it can go out if it is tuned properly.
Wow I remember quite awhile ago alot of people were giving Squiers amazing reception and comparing it to Fender now after some looking on this thread it seems Squier's reputation has not been all that great. What happened to the "some Squiers are better than Fender" comments.
After seeing the date It makes sense now of the lukewarm reception of Squier I wasn't around these parts back then.

You should go back and read the whole thread, but this time pay careful attention to the dates.
And also to the previous 5 posts about an 11-year-old thread. Those posts will make more sense in a minute.
Also, Squier's reputation has improved in the last 11 years, in general and specifically with the CV/VM series.
True. Wow... it's amazing how much Squiers have moved up in the world. It's true what you say about the CV and VM series. They can compete with literally anything in their price range and even some basses much, much more expensive.
And let's not forget about the bevy of Squier exclusives... here are some SWEET basses not even currently available through the standard Fender brand:

Well the biggest difference is that Squier is spelt S-Q-U-I-E-R and Fender is spelt F-E-N-D-E-R

The VM jazz is pretty good I was impressed. Plays well feels great sound great all good things one wants from a bass &youd hardly know it was squier. On the other hand the cv 51 pbass with single coil utterly failed my expectations. I was looking forward to playing one for several months even had my mind made up to get butterscotch just on tb reviews & looks man was I wrong. I didn't actually see one til yesterday in beautiful Oxnard CA. Sounded dim lifeless like old teisco that lost its magnets the neck was a bat the action high intonation done w 2 left feet. Bass nightmare.
The Turser 401 waywayway more feel & potential actually feels& sounds like a good bass. Drop in your fave single coil you're golden. I regret giving mine away now I have to buy another. No I don't work for Turser.

In a shop the other day I was trying pedals and an amp with a Jazz. I accidentally picked up a Squier Jazz half way through and noticed the difference immediately! The balance, the sound, the general playability, everything.
US made Fenders are better quality. They use better tuners,, nuts, fretwire, woods, bridges, pickups, etc. There is more attention to detail. The Japanese Fenders are better then the Korean and Mexican made.
I can't remember a thread with this much misinformation. The OP should be completely confused. The quality of most Fenders and Squiers varies according to the price range.
