I stayed in Augusta briefly. My wife was there for a residency and her landlord is a bass player also. The house was on Winthrop street

I visited the Musicians Hub a few days ago. Pretty cool new store. Not a high end bass shop, but it is way better than that other guys place and there were some cool things like a sunburst 77 P bass.
A few vintage pieces and quality used stuff just mixed in throughout the brand lines. The owner was working the counter and was chill.
The accessory prices were crazy low and in fact, everything in the store was lower. The things I was familiar with we're close or the same price as online.
Anyway, reading back I sound like a damned advertisement so I should state that I have no affiliation with musicians hub, paid or otherwise, beyond that of the guy selling me strings for a stupid price and me liking it.

Even though I'm in Berkeley now I grew up around Brunswick and studied Jazz and Contemporary Music at the University of Maine at Augusta. I'm dying for a Sea Dog Hazelnut Porter right now.

Definably agree, they seemed really cool, and for just opening, had a good selection of vintage and used gear.

Thanks. Usually I wouldn't want to join a club that would have me as a member to paraphrase Groucho Marx. But I still retain that Maine dry sarcasm wherever I go.

I know of two good techs in maine but there may be more.
The first is Kent Palmer who is fantastic but is in Winterport.
The second is a guy from auburn who is fantastic and can fix anything but is very busy. He is discerning about what repairs he will or won't do. Kent can be found online, as for the local cat, pm me with amp problem etc and ill ask him if he is interested.

Whoa, how did I miss this thread. I live in PA now but I was born in Lewiston and grew up in the Bowdoin/Topsham/Brunswick area. I moved to VA when I was 26 and it was like moving to a whole 'nother country.

Hey I'm in L/A well, the A side to be exact. I bought that 77 sunburst P-bass from Musician's Hub I see mentioned earlier in this thread. What bands are you guys playing in lately? Or in the past?
