Maintain Grover tuners

These tuners work well but are a little sticky. I'd like to clean and oil them, but would appreciate some helpful advice.

My plan is to clean the cog with naphtha, remove the butterfly nob, and then lubricate with sewing machine oil on either side of the G and R (in Grover). Is this the right approach?

Cleaning is fine. Oiling is unnecessary and will only serve to attract grit that will shorten the life of the tuner.
