Major problem with my new Avatar 2x12

Ok. Replaced the input. No change. So now, I have a brand new 12 and a brand new input along with an original 12 and the original tweeter. Still very fuzzy. Any ideas?
You are stuck in Swap Til Ya Drop mode. This is known as Easter Egg Hunting in the computer service world.
This is not a substitute for actually diagnosing your problem. Guessing at a bad driver has cost you One Replacement from the vendor. Guessing at the crossover might cost you the Last Replacement from the vendor.
Either diagnose it yourself in an accurate and systematic method, or hire it done. Each component can be diagnosed systematically, then eliminated. You have the basics in place by bass battery change, electronics, cables, etc.

+1 My old Carvin 4x10 arrived like that brand new. FWIW, Carvin shipped out an entirely new cab free but then discovered it was the crossover.
I'm wondering if something happenned either during delivery or with the OP's transport between gigs that may have "shocked" the cab in some manner where the baffle board has become loose within the assembly....
If it HAS, that would cause insane vibration distortion in comparo to a blown speaker.
I would check to make sure the baffle isn't loose within a dado. Just to be sure. Take BOTH speakers out, and manually tug on all flat areas to check for movement, or hit the panel with a rubber mallet lightly to hear any resonance / distortion on each plane.
I used to work for EAW in test / q.c., and lemmie tell you, one human error, say forgetting to secure the panel with glue AND brad shots can pooch the cab. Believe me. It was my job to QC the cabs. No matter how good the glue is, everything has a shear limit. Especially if there is even a slight gap between panels...the glue will only do so much.

Let me try to better describe the sounds coming from the cab: The muffled sound is def coming from the speakers. All of them. The old sub, the old tweeter. Even the new sub. And it's a pulsing sound, too. Like it's going from clean to a mild distortion about every second or so. Sometimes in shorter intervals.

Speakers and crossovers do not generate sound. They reproduce the signal fed to them.

if it's a pulsing with distortion, I bet dollar to donuts it's the amp and not the cab. have you run the amp from a power conditionner to ensure you don't have dirt power? That'd be my first step, then I'd have the amp gone through. If it's a cycling type of thing, could that be the mosfets?
My GK head works great on my GK 2x12. Yet to try another head with the Avatar cab. Don't really have access to one.

Also.... ARE THE SPEAKER WIRES TOUCHING YOUR CONES??? You cannot believe how bad a noise you can get, when the internal wiring is too long and it contacts the inside surface of the cones and starts buzzing against them. Try that out.

Send it back to Avatar!!! Be done with it...especially since you are keeping your GK212...let Avatar figure out the problem. Too much hassle...not enough time.
Had the same exact issue with my old carvin 4x10 as well...Shipped out a replacment speaker ...had it replaced by a pro and still didn't work with my GK ..Bought an Ampeg 4x12 and the thing kicks like a mule ...Don't know if it's a situation where GK 1001 II heads just don't get along with certain cabs or what? It's really a goofy situation!
Good luck man ..my suggestion is to offer to sell it to some one on TB! At least you know that two of the three components are good!

I wish I could, man. The return policy is one free speaker. Nothing else.
This is my goal. If I can find another head to test the cab with and it checks out, I'll sell it. But I'm not gonna sell a cab that I'm not 100% sure works or not.

Are you using the same speaker cable that you use for your GK and is your amp set for the Biamp mode when you use the Avatar cabinet?Just a thought.
Nice going! You followed up on the other poster's advice and you did find the problem. So Dave will hook you up eh? Nice.. you'll have yourself a buyer for that Avatar in no time I'm sure.
Same cable, yes. It's a SpeakOn cable (if that makes any difference). And, too my knowledge, there isn't a biamp setting on the amp. Just on the GK cab.
Have a guitar center or any other store near? Take it there and ask if you can plug up. I took mine and tried a lot of heads to match with my new cab
I would try a 1/4" speaker cable just to see if it makes a difference.The speakon outs are set up for biamping and if the Avatars have jumpers on the speakon inputs like some cabinets I've seen it might send the output of the woofer and tweeter amps to the same input on the cab and cause the amp to distort.I might be way off on this but it's worth a try.If the Avatars inputs aren't jumpered it wouldn't make a difference.
