Make a music video for a cover song?

So my band is filming a music video for a cover of a song...my guitarist wants to even add a story to the beginning... Is it really worth it for a song that's not even yours?

Depends on what you're doing it for. If you're a cover band and you're doing it for a demo/publicity, then sure it's worth it. If you're an original band and you've got a unique take on the song it might be worth it, or not.

That all depends. Do you have something better to do with your time? Sometimes people like to be creative. Sometimes creativity can be found by reinterpreting the work of another artist. Sometimes people would rather make a crappy video of a terrible cover song than sit around smoking weed and watching tv. Better to spend your time doing SOMETHING than sitting around doing NOTHING.
