Bass Player Needed (East Greenbush)
Boomer Jam Band: We’re in our 60’s and early 70’s. We’ve played in bands and gigged at bars and clubs for years in past lives, We’re advanced intermediate players with a significant amount of stage time. We’ve lived through the golden age of rock and country and play great music from across the decades from a number of genres. We aspire to execution and tastefulness performing cool, fun, interesting songs.

At this point we’re enjoying getting together, shooting the poopie, and jamming for a couple of hours in the evening. Playing out is a medium term goal when we’ve polished up a set list sufficiently, and we can’t do that without you. We’re not planning on making this an income stream.

We’re in search of a bass player to round out the line-up. Weekly practice is in East Greenbush in the evenings; can be flexible to accommodate your schedule. Vocals would be nice, but not a must. We have a full studio set-up, all you will have to do is walk in and play. Please email me for a sample list of songs we’re working on and artists we like. This is a democracy, bring your own song-list and we’ll talk.

Bait and switch? Talking a good, welcoming game, but the ‘democracy’ aspect faded away once he got there? Delusions of adequacy? Political stuff? I’ve seen post-meet up warning ads like that out where I am, LA, OC, Inland Empire(Riverside/San Bernardino). Could be a grouch himself.

Anyone that would post a response like that is a turd. I would ignore. If I auditioned, I would be able to quickly catch-on to any flakiness. Heck it is an old-man music project! Not like they are looking to get signed.

On a public forum like craigslist I'm fine with specific anonymous whines, but sour grapes without details is just vinegar.

There's a CL "musicians wanted" ad up here where the poster makes their political affiliations well known in the ad. I guess that saves some potential headaches on both ends.

Well, I replied to the Boomer Jam Band ad, and the guy brought up the "rant" ad himself. So, what led someone to get so upset? The Boomer Jam Band member was talking on the phone to the bass player, and asked...wait for it...if the bass player was vaccinated!

Yup, that's it. Boomer Jam Band said he's in his 70's, has grandchildren, etc., and is worried about COVID. He said the guy went off on him just for asking. The world really is in such a sorry state (though the comment about Schenectady did make me chuckle, so not all is lost).

I put an ad up recently looking for a fifth player for a band I'm working in. I decided to just state up front that we're all vaccinated and expect anyone else who joins us to be vaccinated, too. Seemed easier than dealing with this kind of stuff.

I also said that we don't care about your political views but we don't want to hear about them, and that if ranting about politics is your passion you won't fit in with us. Seems to have cut out a lot of the potential crazy.

I once knew someone (not from Schenectady) who had great difficulty pronouncing it. I have to admit that it is a bit of a tongue-twister but he settled on "Shiggy-diggy". Cracked me up every time I heard it.
