Making it real

"Keeping it real" means taking care of business. "It just got real" means stuff is happening with serious consequences. "Being real" usually means shooting your mouth off and expecting to get away with it.

Since we're kind of on the subject....I've really gotten tired of people who say "I dont care what anyone else thinks of me" when what they mean is "I only pay attention to people who agree with me".

For some of us making in real means taking a good honest look at ourselves and doing our best to not do things only to impress others. It is a fine line between saying "I'm going go be me not matter who likes it or not" and saying "I'm going to be honest and not try to make myself something that I am not." One focuses on other people and one focuses on ourselves.
