making my new bass

Bear in mind that you won't get many (if any) useful replies unless you are moderatly specific. Seeing as you want to build YOUR bass, you want to make it how you like it.

Also my most recent bass project was for a GCSE course, and on a tight budget I got the main parts for £100 (neck, bridge, tuners, mahogany and screws).
I had pots etc already so expect this figure to go up.

What kind of shape? Number of strings? Wood? What kind of tone are you looking for?
There are a lot of experts here, but they can't decide these things,
