Making my squier VM jazz bass look metalish.

I have a vintage modified jazz bass and love the sound. I don't like the way that it looks though. What are some easy ways to modify my bass without ruining the sound or risk of breaking it? I'm a beginner and the only things i can think of are stickers, and i don't want to put stickers on it. It's a marcus miller vm type. Anyone have suggestions?

Drive nails into it from the back so they stick out the front... you will be more intimidating than Kerry King with his big nail gauntlet thing.

A bass becomes popular for metal as soon as someone popular happens to be seen playing it. Then everyone scrambles out to buy the bass they never considered 'metal' before.

If you're not considered 'metal' it's not because of the bass...

Stop worrying about how it looks. Unless you're playing in a glam/hair band, fashion doesn't matter.

Plenty of metal bands dig the vintage look. If you want a popular example, think of The Sword. Everything about them looks like it was ripped out of a thrift/pawn shop.

Short of not worrying about it, you can always get black tuners and a black bridge.

But don't worry about it.

The Marcus Miller look is plenty metal if you rock it hard enough.

Other than that... the only easy visual mod I can think of is getting black strings. Would look great with the maple fingerboard.

Just have a close look at this. Lemmy's Rick is one of the exceptions. Not many basses have been pimped so tastefully.
