Making your own pickguard

I am looking to make my own pickguard for my dean z, does anyone know where i can get the sheet of plastic? i need a blood red color

Sorry, I originally had a recommendation for Warmoth before I realized they didn't cary red.

I have updated my recommendation with WD Music which does carry solid red in both 1 ply and 3 ply.

Now when i cut that, will my school shop be suitiable?

I've made quite a few pickguards. You will need a scroll saw or bandsaw, drill press or hand drill and a Dremel Tool will come in very handy. Files and several grades of sandpaper will also be needed. Then you need a way of buffing the edges. I suggest practicing on the clear Lexan sheet you can buy at Home Depot. It's much cheeper than practicing on expensive Pearloid or other pickguard material. You can also put material behind it for color, etc.

Here's my latest one, the material came from WD Music. I spent about an hour buffing the edges clear. That was fun

It should if they have a scroll saw with a fine blade. A jigsaw with a fine blade will work too. You're going to have to do a bit of cleanup of the edges and a dremel tool with a beveled bit will finish it off.
