Male Vocalists you CAN stand

Just about everyone in the realm of classic Soul (Motown, Stax)

From the rock and roll genre:

James Dewar (Robin Trower band, early 70's)
Paul Rodgers (Bad Company)
Jimi Hendrix (I know that Jimi wasn't technically a great singer but in my opinion no one else could have possibly taken his place as his own vocalist)
Robert Plant
Bon Scott
Roger Daltry
Bob Seger
Ronnie James Dio

There are, of course, many many others but I've just rattled off some that came immediately to mind ...

OK, so this is a "who is my favorite vocalist" thread? And I imagine that, if the thread were allowed to go on infinitely, every vocalist out there, including the weekend drunk down on the corner of your street who thinks his version of "Isn't She Lovely" is the best ever, will appear on this list?
(And as you say, if you insert "least favorite" for "favorite", the same names will eventually appear)

OK, I'll play along

Donald Fagen
Jon Anderson

Yeah, I was wondering that as well...is it supposed to be "our favorite vocalists that we perceive as being disliked by others?" Or just our favorite vocalists? I went with the latter.

My favorite male vocalist - by far - is David Sylvian. I really can't break it down. Something about the timbre of his voice, plus the artful way he uses it, plus his lyrics, plus his general style, just reaches me.

Runners up / Honorable mention:
Bryan Ferry
Greg Lake (wonderful theatrical voice)

Best rock vocalists:
John Kay (Mr. Charisma)
Burton Cummings
John Fogerty
Jim Morrison

MM

Already Mentioned
Freddy Mercury
Paul McCartney
Chris Cornell
Jim Morrison
Robert Plant

Some Others...
Aaron Lewis (Staind). I just really like his voice for some indescribable reason (on his records with Staind, his new "country" stuff is iffy). The live version of "Outside" is great (even though I dislike Fred Durst...)

Aaron Bruno (AWOLNATION). Saw them live a few months ago and he was great, and had awesome stage presence as well.

Kurt Cobain (Nirvana). I know this is probably an unpopular opinion, but I really like Kurt's voice/style of singing. It's more the emotion he put into songs, not really his technical "talent" as a singer.
