And definitely Geddy Lee. Many others, but Geddy is the one that's most divisive. Lots of people hate his voice, but I love it.

Also, Frank Sinatra. I normally hate vocals with my jazz, preferring instrumental, but Frank is okay. Plus he was just too cool.

I never intended to be the lead singer of my old band. I think of myself as 'good enough to be a backup singer' only. But I wrote the songs so I had a strong opinion of how they should have sounded.

I ended up as our lead singer because I was already there and could roughly, sort of, kind of, nearly, approximate what I wanted them to sound like. We call that the "Phil Collins Syndrome".

So it wasn't until years after the band had faded away that I found out whose voice I pictured in my head when I wrote.

We couldn't have afforded him. It was Paul Carrack.

Look him up. Ace, Squeeze, Mike+the Mechanics

For others, I'd mostly have to reiterate a few of the earlier and obvious choices. But a couple might not have been listed yet:
Marvin Gaye
Freddie Mercury
Paul Rodgers
Bill Withers (Was he mentioned before?)
David Clayton Thomas (I know he wasn't mentioned. But he should have been.)
Al Green
Marc Cohn
Tom Prasada-Rao
Meat Loaf (Despite the ridiculous name, he had great pipes back in the day.)
