My tidepool Player P before I put an unlined flame maple fretless neck from Warmoth on it.

Looks like half-reverse mean E/A coil is in regular position but D/G is closer to neck? How does that sound?


I believe that's called Mary Kaye.

The color is white blonde. If the hardware is gold it's referred to as Mary Kaye.

That's exactly right. Honestly, I love it. I think most will agree that with a traditional Pbass, the E&A coil is perfectly placed, but the D&G can be a touch thin. The "standard" solution is the Reverse P, which thins out the E&A while adding body to the D&G.
But the half-reverse is IMO the perfect configuration. Everyone who plays my basses (I have 2 with this set up) is left wondering what Leo was thinking, putting the D&G coil closer to the bridge.
It sounds perfectly balanced.

I highly suggest every Pbass owner try it.
Assuming you're okay routing out the new cavity, shielding it, and buying a new pick guard...

i have two. sorry, neither one is the color you're looking for --- but they're both great players --- and they look cool with their maple boards:

My cheapo burst Squier Sonic P. It also comes in California Blue with a maple neck.

The Squier would probably be the best option for me since it won't be a main. Also thinking a short scale could be an option since I don't have one. I'm a little gun shy about wasting time with having a completely different feeling bass though.

Oof, she's gorgeous! The body reminds me of my EuroLT. The neck figuring on that is bonkers That's a whole lot of switches/knobs I don't need though
