Also the size of the bassist and percent body fat.... I'm not even kidding here either. The players body (like a heavier bridge or super heavy body wood) affects the tone. A quick example, place a bass on a heavy table and pluck the strings, it'll be significantly louder and piano-like, compared to holding it in the air while plucking strings.
