Marcus miller Jazz pickup replacement

so whats the verdict on the duncans? i just bought a set of 1980 jazz bass pickups for my mia 75 reissue and they turned it into a totally different bass. it now has the same voice that my old fender does. it still sounds different because of the wood differences but it responds the same now and has the same eq curve. im loving this bass now finally. some of the other stuff got close, but for that particular bass nothing came close to the old pickups.

I have MM-V for one week and I like this bass...the low B is great!...this bass sounds different than my MM 4 string...I feel it's more modern instrument more like "Fodera" " or so ...more open sound but you can still find Marcus vibe on it....anyway I feel this bass need preamp upgrade...I bellieve the stock preamp can work fine for many bass players...but I'm going to upgrade my Marcus 5 with OBP3

I have both marcus 4 and 5, and thinking to replace the stock preamp and PU.

As you has installed the OBP 3, does your MM5 bass still have the marcus tone? my both my marcus basses are all stock, but it's noisy. the noise is gone when you touch the string and I have no fret buzz whatsoever.
do you replace the stock PU to on the MM5.

...I have stock pups in MM5, well you have to be careful with midds and highs setting on OBP3 and also tweeter and preamp setting on your rig, if you do too much this bass can sounds more like Music Man or MTD, but I still can found similar sound with OBP3 as with original Fender preamp. I think the MM4 sounds more like Marcus if you slap, but there is not rich tone which you can find on MM5 ...I changed preamp on my MM4 (also OBP3) and it was much better, than I update this bass with DiMarzio UL pups, well it was better in some ways, next update was SD Antiquities II, it's fater tone with these pups. I have also SD SJB-1 ready for update...I will work on it in near future...also J-Retro works nice in this bass but it's not natural as OBP3... it sounds more like Melvin Davis Fender 4....you feel you play an active bass but J-Retro is more versatile than OBP3 . I can say MM5 is my baby now I feel I don't need next MM4 experiment, MM4 is little on side now...but it's great bass
